Even after just a few days of play (albeit non-stop), this is easily one of my favourite albums of the year – perhaps many years.
A unique combination of psychedelic kosmische ambient, dark dungeon synth, and electronic folk drone inflected with a deeply idiosyncratic Englishness, that channels the formative experimentation of Delia Derbyshire through recent hauntological atmospheres of Ghost Box, mixing the likes of Belbury Poly and Advisory Circle into its own distinct entity. While previous albums were recorded in a haunted dungeon in a land where sunlight is a myth, this album sounds a bit brighter and more inviting. Take that as you will. Turd Ferguson
58918012’s hatred of piano inspired him to build an entire album around the instrument—which, ironically, led to gorgeous music. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 22, 2023
